TRAVERTINE CROSS CUT – CLEANING & SEALING

Different surfaces have different requirements in order to keep their beauty and integrity.
Aqua-Seal STS offers Pre-Grout Sealing, Sealing, Maintenance and Restoration specifications. These are listed below for your convenience.

Travertine is a form of limestone (sedimentary rock) formed in hot springs and/or limestone caves. It is a durable stone and consists of naturally formed holes caused by carbon dioxide or CO2 bubbles. These holes are usually filled at the factory during fabrication or with grout or cement during installation. Like most sedimentary rocks, travertine colours range from white, cream & buff through to tan, brown and red. The cross cut look is achieved during the manufacturing process by cutting the travertine blocks across the natural veining of the stone. The finish is usually a low sheen or flat, matt antique/old world look. Due to the high content of calcium carbonate, travertine is susceptible to etching from acid based contaminants eg wine, citrus, soft drinks.
