HOW TO REMOVE RUST

WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU START:

For Porcelain, Ceramic, Encaustic and Tessellated Tiles, Terrazzo, Bricks, Pavers, Concrete, Mosaics, Terracotta, Saltillo, Quarry Tiles, Engineered Stone, all Natural Stone e.g. Basalt, Bluestone, Granite, Marble, Limestone, Quartz, Sandstone, Slate, Travertine etc. Ideal for acid sensitive surfaces

WHAT YOU NEED BEFORE YOU START:

1. Mask, protective gloves, eye, skin and foot protection and a watch for timing;
2. Plastic bucket plus clean sponge, roller or mop to apply the product;  
3. Hose or separate bucket and mop plus plenty of clean water for rinsing;
4. Either a Scrub’N’Clean Kit, Strip’N’Clean kit, white nylon pads, scrub brush or stiff broom;
5. TIP: For large areas, use a wet vac to help remove Rust Away from the surface before rinsing with clean water;

PRECAUTIONS & SAFETY DIRECTIONS:

1. Read entire label, SDS & technical bulletin before using;
2. Wear appropriate gloves, skin and eye protection;
3. Do NOT breathe in fumes or vapours – wear appropriate mask.
4. Use in a well ventilated area;
5. Do NOT eat, drink or smoke when using this product;
6. Use when surface temperature is between 4°C & 28°C;
7. Do NOT allow contact with non recommended surfaces;
8. Do NOT mix with other chemicals;

TEST FIRST:

Always test first in an inconspicuous area to determine ease of application, dwell time, colour stability and desired results. User must determine suitability for their use.

HOW TO USE:

1. Ready to use formula. Do NOT dilute
2. Sweep, vacuum, or wipe surface;
3. Pour or spray Rust Away directly onto stain;
4. Allow to dwell time for 5- 10 minutes depending on the severity or type of problem; Do NOT allow to dwell longer than 10 minutes.
5. NOTE: Stain will immediately start to turn purple
6. DON’T ALLOW PRODUCT TO DRY ON SURFACE – ADD MORE RUST AWAY AS NEEDED TO KEEP IT WET AND ACTIVE;
7. After dwell time, scrub with a white pad or scrub brush;
8. Remove dirty solution with paper towels or absorbent cloths or a wet vac;
9. Rinse thoroughly with clean water;
10. Repeat the process as necessary.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Any purple residue will lighten up after a few days.
2. Long dwell times might cause slight dullness or colour discolouration on some sensitive surfaces – always do a test area first;

LIMITATIONS:

• Will not be effective if the stains or marks are not iron based or covered by a sealer or a coating. Remove sealer or coating with Strip-It then use Rust Away
• If stain or mark is not metal based, then refer to website for appropriate stain removal or problem solving product.

COVERAGE:

Approximately 5-10m2 per litre. Coverage will vary depending on porosity of surface, time solution is left to dwell on the surface, type and the severity of the problem.

HANDLING, STORAGE & CLEAN UP:

• Close container tightly after each use and keep upright;
• Store locked up in original container in a well ventilated cool area and protect from sunlight;
• Keep or store away from combustible materials.
• Shelf life is approx 3 years in unopened container – less after opening; Storage beyond that time does not mean the product is not usable. Do a test area first. Do not re-use container.
• Rinse and discard in rubbish;
• Wash tools, gloves and shoes with water before they dry;
• WASH UNDERSIDE OF SHOES BEFORE STEPPING ONTO OTHER AREAS.

FIRST AID:

• Immediately Contact Poisons Centre (Australia Ph: 131- 126, NZ Ph: 0800 764-766) or a doctor.
• Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Do NOT induce vomiting.
• Eyes: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing.
• Clothes: Remove contaminated clothing and wash before use; Skin & Hair: Wash with plenty of soap and water.
• Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a comfortable position for breathing;
• General: If any irritation persists or feeling unwell, get medical advice.
